I LOVE BIRTHDAYS


Last week I celebrated the big Twenty Two. First of all, I LOVE BIRTHDAYS! Whether it is mine or someone else's I'll embrace any reason to have a celebration. I think the most special part of birthday's is how they bring the big crowds together. The friends bring the crazy times, and the family brings the big dinners with all the reminiscing. Every birthdays is so special and memorable.

I've seen the quote start every day like it's your birthday and for some reason it always stuck with me. 
Aside from the big parties there is something I found very special about this birthday that could easily translate into everyday life. I did a little extra work at the beginning of the week so that on my birthday I would have a full day to take my time and do what I wanted.  For once, on a week day I woke up with out rushing [obviously did the jump on the bed it's my birthday dance], got some good yoga stretches in, cooked breakfast instead of the grab and go, and sipped on my morning coffee while I put my makeup on. This morning routine really set the tone for the rest of the day. I felt refreshed, relaxed and peppy for the whole day.

This week set the alarm for 30 minutes earlier[i know it sounds painful but just try]. Our days are so go-go-go, it's so nice to take a little bit of time for yourself to prepare for the day peacefully. Light a candle while you do your makeup. Sip on something warm. Take time to stretch, read, or listen do some music. Do a little something for yourself in the morning. You deserve it :)

Breakfast of Champions

Mom always said "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." Breakfast kick starts the metabolism to get the calorie burning started while also giving the energy needed to conquer the day.

I have never had to be convinced to eat breakfast. It is my most favorite meal of the day, and one of my favorite things to do is meet up with friends at a cute breakfast spot. My favorite spot in Baton Rouge is a placed called Another Broken Egg. They feature a blueberry quinoa dish that is packed with fruits and protein. Unlike after a big pancake and bacon breakfast, I leave feeling energized, satisfied, and balanced after eating this.

Recreate it at home:
Blueberry Quinoa, Granola, Blueberries, Strawberries, Bananas
Pour Coconut milk over dish 

and VOILA!!

Bucket List Worthy

My dad once told me that when you write things down you are exponentially more likely to make them happen. I feel that seeing the goal or tasks in writing subconsiously holds me more accountable. I am an organization nerd so physically scratching things off of my list gives me a feeling of accomplishment.

There are the typical boring to do lists that get you through the day to day without forgetting an item at the grocery store or an appointment, and then there are the lists that challenge you to live with purpose and excitement. Lets discuss the bucket list.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE bucket lists. I haven't just limited myself to one; I make many bucket lists. There is a weekly, yearly, and lifetime bucket lists. I love to write fun ideas and adventures down so I will remember to do them. My lists give me things to look forward to every single day. These bucket list don't have to be extreme things every single week or month.

I usually write down two things I would like to do each week:
Weekly bucket lists might include:
Try a new recipe, go to the movies, try a new work out class, have a coffee date with a friend, try a new restaurant

Yearly might include:
Run a half marathon, take a road trip, make a 4.0, attend a "insert artist" concert

It's fun to day dream things that you would really like to do and plan to actually make them happen. Don't let these years fly by without even thinking about what it is you would really like to check off of a list. Through organized advanced planning you can make any thing on your bucket list possible. Share and compare your lists with friends and family and make dreams happen together! Life's more fun with others :)
